Frequently Asked Questions

The Bryn Athyn Fire Company Ambulance is dispatched about 1600 times each year. Statistically, chances are high that we will be on your street during the year, assisting at a nearby home or business, if not at your own.

We have two ambulances, certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Our two units, purchased in 2009 and 2016, carry all the required equipment for Advance Life Support (Paramedic) services.

This depends on the reason that you call. An ambulance will arrive for medical emergencies - sudden illness or severe injuries. Our local police departments also serve as 'first responders', often arriving quickly because they are already on patrol. Officers will begin first aid treatment, and let us know what to expect when we reach the scene. Finally, 'rescue teams' bring special tools to get into vehicles which are damaged in an accident.

Tristan Smith

In Memoriam: Tristan Smith

On August 27th, 2006 one of Bryn Athyn Fire Company's members, Tristan Smith, was killed in action in Iraq while serving our country in the United States Army. This a great loss for his family, our company, the Bryn Athyn community, and the Third District-for all of us. Tristan was an active member here for 7 years, trained hard, and rose to the rank of Lieutenant before enlisting in the Army. He was also a former member of Willow Grove Fire Company, actively involved in leadership with Boy Scouts and many activities of the Bryn Athyn Church.
